India Meteorological Department warning on Cyclone Michaung:

 As per the India Meteorological Department warning,  cyclone is likely to move west-northwestwards at a speed of 9 kmph in the past 6 hours. As per Last midnight records, the center of the depression had predicted at Latitude 10.3°N and Longitude 85.3°E & approx 630 km east-southeast of Puducherry .

According to an statement made by officials in the media, that all fishermen’s have been asked not to venture out into the sea while adequate shelters, power supply, medicine and emergency services are being kept in readiness. Also, the team of 18 will be present to Odisha,  Puducherry, Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh,  in Addition to this, 10 teams have been kept ready always. State Government has also announced that Rescue and relief teams of the Coast Guard, Army and Navy along with ships and aircraft have been kept ready on standby.







The Director General of IMD  stated that current status of Michaung, As per statement made in the media,  depression over Southeast and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph during last 6 hours with lay centere at 11:30 IST on Friday about 730 km east-southeast of Puducherry,  930 km southeast of Bapatla and 910 km southeast of Machilipatnam,  860 km southeast of Nellore, 740 km east-southeast of Chennai, further into a cyclonic storm over Southwest Bay of Bengal around December 3 2023. We would like to inform that this cyclong will not stop here and it would move ahead toward northwestwards and then it will reach near south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu coasts by December 4 2023.

India Meteorological Department alert on heavy Rainfall:

On Saturday, December 2- 2023, the India Meteorological Department had also given warning for thunderstorm with rains in Pondicherry & on December 3 & 4- 2023, it is expected to  heavy rainfall. Further statement made by department officials that  light to moderate rainfall is  expected in major parts of North Tamil Nadu for the next four days.

Due to Cyclone Michaung movement & amid of heavy rainfall alert, all schools in Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions will remain closed on December 4-2023.
